Community-based tourism & ecotourism
Community-based tourism is a way of traveling in which the experience is organized and offered directly by the local or Indigenous community that lives in and cares for a territory. Instead of an agency deciding for them, the communities themselves welcome you, host you, guide you along their trails and share their culture, food and knowledge.
In traditional tourism, much of what you pay stays with middlemen: platforms, wholesalers and tour operators. In community-based tourism it is the opposite: you book directly with the community, so the income stays in the town that welcomes you and helps sustain the care of its territory. On top of that, the connection is more personal and the experiences are authentic, not a standardized package.
From releasing turtles into the sea in Oaxaca, to exploring mangroves and watching flamingos in Campeche or venturing into the Lacandon Jungle in Chiapas. Each community offers lodging, guided tours, local cuisine and activities born from its relationship with nature.
Because your trip leaves a positive mark: it strengthens the local economy, helps conserve ecosystems and keeps alive cultures that have protected their territories for generations. And because you will experience something genuine, guided by the people who love each place most.
